Hemp Carbon Innovations

Amazing as that sounds, it's true. A hemp carbon foam structure can store an electrical charge.  Carl Martel put together this hemp battery unit and demonstrated it at the CHTA show.  Charging peoples cell phones... the crowd went wild.

Dr. David Mitlin at University of Alberta first reported on this when he developed a super capacitor from hemp fibre. He is continuing his work at Clarkson University in New York. Work in the graphene sector is continuing rapidly.

Innovations in this technology range from a hemp carbon battery to a supercapacitor to a porous hemp foam capable of filtering water.  When a DC current is run across the foam filter, it is capable of de-salinating seawater.  This has far-reaching implications.

As you might imagine, there are a wide range of potential applications and uses across numerous industries. We are on the trail of a couple of these. Stay tuned.
